Car & Driver has announced the winners of their prestigious 10Best awards.
There were a number of different candidates in the running this year but the victors had to cost less than $80,000 and have a winning combination of “value and engagement, performance and poise, sights and sounds, soul and character.”
The first winner is the BMW M235i which features a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that develops 320 bhp (238 kW) and 330 lb-ft (446 Nm) of torque. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in as little as 4.4 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h).
The Cadillac CTS Vsport was also a winner and it has a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 engine that develops 420 bhp (313 kW) and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) of torque.
General Motors also received another 10Best award for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. The model weighs up to 390 lbs (176 kg) less than its predecessor and can be equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 3.6-liter V6, and a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 455 bhp (339 kW) and 455 lb-ft (616 Nm) of torque.
The Camaro’s top rival also walked away with an award as the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 / GT350R was praised for its combination of performance and driver enjoyment. Both models feature a 5.2-liter flat plane crank V8 engine that churns out 526 bhp (392 kW) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque.
