Mazda Miata 525 HP
The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a heck of a roadster that’s plenty fun to sling around corners. But perhaps some don’t feel the little Mazda has quite enough power, so the folks at Flyin’ Miata shoved a 6.3-liter V8 under the hood. Because why not.
That new engine has an incredible 525 horsepower, which is wonderfully ridiculous in a car this small. Outside, nothing has changed, and you’d never know what lurks beneath the hood. According to Road&Track, it’s a Chevrolet Performance LS376/525 crate engine with an upgraded cam.

That 525 horsepower comes along with 489 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission and a Camaro SS Positraction differential. What this beefy engine doesn’t do is keep the Mazda’s weight distribution.
This one, with a full tank of gas, comes in with 53.4 percent front and 46.6 percent rear with a total weight of 2,592. That’s an extra 264 pounds over the stock model, which had a 52/48 weight distribution. It’s still darn close. Pricing hasn’t been released yet, but it will likely be around $50,000 if it’s in line with Flyin’ Miata‘s other conversions.
