Mazda Bringing Pair Of Insanely Cool MX-5 Concepts To SEMA 2016

Can this car get any cooler?

This year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas is just around the corner, so it makes sense automakers such as Mazda are previewing what they have planned. And to our delight, the Japanese automaker will be bringing a pair of MX-5 Miata concepts that are nothing short of beautiful, especially for Miata fans (like us). The first is called the MX-5 RH Kuro, which is essentially the new RF with a few modifications. Kuro, by the way, means charcoal in Japanese, which is the color of the semi-matte metallic paint chosen that was developed in-house.

For the moment, the color is limited to this concept only but we wouldn’t rule out it being offered for production MX-5s in the near future. Other enhancements include RAYS forged wheels, BFGoodrich Rival G-Force tires, and a suspension straight from the MX-5 Cup race car. The second MX-5 concept is an updated version of last year’s MX-5 Speedster, now called the Speedster Evolution. For the record, the previous MX-5 Speedster was 250 pounds lighter than the standard roadster thanks partly to the soft top’s removal. The Speedster Evolution shaves an additional 100 pounds for a total weight of only 2,000 pounds.

It also still has an improved suspension, revised interior with sport seats and five-point racing harnesses and the same 2.0-liter four banger with 155 hp. More details to follow in the coming days.
