Mazda BT-50 facelift unveiled image
Europeans thinking about pickup trucks often go for the Nissan Navara, for the Mitsubishi L200, the Ford Ranger or the beefier Volkswagen Amarok but there is not another competitor which is worth taking a look at: the 2016 Mazda BT-50. The model in question has received several cosmetic revisions and we can notice the slightly revised front grille, the darker graphics for the headlights, a darkened cherry red finish for the taillights and several other goodies which should put some distance between it and the previous version.
“HIROSHIMA, Japan: Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that production of the refreshed Mazda BT-50 utility has commenced at the company’s manufacturing plant in Thailand, Auto Alliance (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (AAT). Mazda plans to start introducing the updated model from the second half of 2015, starting with Thailand and Australia”, says the automaker in its press release.
The cabin of the 2016 Mazda BT-50 has been slightly upgraded too and here the company has added a rearview camera to the list of items, along with a so-called “higher-quality feel”. The engine is a 2.2 liter turbo diesel four-cylinder, which is capable of putting down a total of 160 HP (118 kW) and it has a peak torque of 385 Nm (284 lb-ft). There is also a 3.2 liter unit available, with 200 HP (147 kW) and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque, just like the one in the facelifted Ford Ranger. No pricing details have been announced so far.
