The iconic roadster has always been known for its stylish yet minimalist approach to the way it treats everyday life, so there’s no surprise the company’s poster showing all generations together is again as simple as it gets.
Mazda has decided to compile and offer free to its fans a poster to showcase all four generations of the MX-5 Miata, hearkening back to the first version presented back in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show to the new generation that has been out and about for almost two years now. The latest generation was also a way to reconnect with the core idea of “less is more” by making it shorter than even the first generation and also lighter than the model it replaced. With the regular MX-5 being a very appealing model, the company is even offering an all-year option to those that don’t cope with soft roofs because of the weather – the Retractable Fastback (RF) variant.
Here the MX-5 can live through any weather thanks to the power-folding targa top – which is very similar to the much more costly Porsche 911 Targa. The model in the United States is coming early next year with Launch Edition for the first 1000 customers. Mazda is now already thinking about the fifth installment in the saga and is apparently rooting for even less weight – rumors speak about Mazda deploying carbon fiber for the next generation due out after the turn of the decade.
