Mazda is just about ready to jump on the crossover coupe bandwagon with this, the CX-4 . The bad news is it will be manufactured in China exclusively for the local market, at least initially. That is why the model will receive its official premiere later this month at the Beijing Motor Show which kicks off on the 25 th .
Now we have more revealing images which seem to suggest the CX-4 will basically be a coupe-ified CX-5 and will resemble the rather appealing KOERU concept shown last year in Frankfurt. Mazda is putting its Kodo design language to good use with this new model which will target people looking for a stylish vehicle. The sloped roofline will have a negative impact on rear headroom and trunk capacity, as seen in other crossover coupes.
Mazda hasn’t released any technical details about the new arrival, but it is believed the CX-4 will ride on the same platform as the CX-5. It will be available with 19-inch wheels and LED headlights, while on the inside there’s going to be a head-up display and Mazda’s latest MZD infotainment system.
Company CEO Masamichi Kogai previously said the CX-4 is going to deliver “more driving pleasure” compared to other CX-badged models. This could mean the engineers are making some tweaks to the steering and suspension to make the CX-4 sharper and more agile. We also know the crossover coupe will take full advantage of SKYACTIV technologies and will be offered with both front- and all-wheel-drive.
