Mazda introduces Mazda2 Red Edition in the United Kingdom image
The Japanese automaker has decided to entice British buyers with an all-new limited series supermini version of the Mazda2 model, with pricing starting from £14,995 and availability kicking off September 1st.
The Mazda2 Red Edition has been derived from the 90 hp SE-L Nav mid-level trim, and comes with a plethora of styling elements to beef up the exterior and interior of the supermini model. With just 400 units of the Mazda2 Red Edition, the model is acting against its Red Edition name because it can only be had with the Snowflake White Pearlescent or Black Mica paint, and adorned with Soul Red accents on the rear spoiler and lower bumper for the necessary contrast. For another 300 pounds, the owner can also select better looking Dark Gunmental 15 inch alloy wheels. The cabin comes with red cloth seats, red centre console parts and red door trim inserts, as well as white and red touches across the dashboard.
Under the hood the same base model engine is available – the Skyactiv-G petrol packing the same amount of 90 hp for the Mazda2 Red Edition. The classic Mazda2 is going against the Ford Fiesta – which is turning 40 and is the bestselling car in the United Kingdom over the past four decades. This means the Red Edition is a direct competitor to the Fiesta White and Black Editions, which also go for the base Fiesta and add more accessories.
