Mazda Koeru Crossover Concept Teased Before Frankfurt Debut

Mazda Koeru Concept Teaser

Mazda is planning to unveil a new crossover concept called the Koeru at the Frankfurt auto show next month, and this teaser sketch gives us an idea of what this dramatic SUV design will look like. Like most Mazda concept cars, the Mazda Koeru is likely a close preview for an upcoming production model. As the current three-row Mazda CX-9 crossover is scheduled to be redesigned soon, the Koeru’s dramatic styling, which falls in line with Mazda’s “Kodo” design language, may hint at that model’s new look. The Koeru displays a familiar shield-like grille up front, with a strong character line swooping along the profile and a sharply raked rear hatch out back. Because we don’t know the relative size of the Mazda Koeru concept, though, it may also give an indication for a different crossover model. A replacement for the midsize, two-row CX-7 that was discontinued in 2012 is possible, as is a new CX-4 or CX-6 model that would be a sportier, coupe-like version of the existing CX-5, in the vein of the BMW X4 or X6. Stay tuned for the Mazda Koeru concept’s official debut next month at the Frankfurt auto show to learn more about this upcoming Mazda crossover.
