Mazda Motorsport’s MX-5 Cup Racer Already Has A New Job

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Beats the fleet and gets shipped to service at Laguna Seca. A
few months back, we showed you Mazda‘s upcoming MX-5 Cup racecar, based on the
fourth-generation MX-5 and equipped with a treatment that would make it feel
right at home on the track. But before the fleet of racers heads to the Global
MX-5 championship for its debut race, one special example has been given a
unique job: serving as the new pace car at the Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway. In
addition to the racing buckets and roll cage, the pace car has been dressed in
a special livery by Sticky Fingers design and equipped with emergency lighting. Like
the Global Cup racers, this pace car should enjoy additional modifications like
enhanced wheel arches, aero tweaks and a lowered ride height. So far, Mazda has
only released a single image of the pace car, but we expect it to be as awesome
as the rest of the cars in the MX-5 Cup:
