Mazda MX-5 Miata RF hardtop arrives in showrooms two months early
The company shifted its production schedule to deliver the Retractable Fastback a full two months early, starting with 1,000 Launch Edition vehicles that were initially offered via exclusive invitation for the most hardcore Miata enthusiasts.
The first US-market RF was airlifted to Huntington Beach Mazda for a ceremonious delivery to Mazda addict Dave Putter. It is said to be his 16th Mazda and his eighth MX-5 Miata.
“We want to build lifelong relationships with our customers and fans, providing them a fulfilling ownership experience they couldn’t get anywhere else,” said MNAO chief Masahiro Moro.
The RF’s power-operated hardtop is paired with a unique body styling to give the car a sporty coupe-like form. The top can be deployed or stowed automatically in just 13 seconds.
The MX-5 RF is available exclusively in Club and Grand Touring trim levels with prices starting at $32,390 (including $835 freight).
