Mazda Mx 5 Miata Sport Recaro Edition Front Three Quarters 02
The Mazda Miata has offered countless special-edition models over the years, and we’re now seeing the first factory special-edition version of the ND-generation 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata. This limited-run Miata Sport Recaro Edition is being offered only in the U.K., at least for now. Visual clues that identify the Sport Recaro Miata include attractive 17-inch alloy wheels, black side mirrors, and a black body kit with a front and side skirts and a rear spoiler. The Recaro name really applies inside, though, where Alcantara-trimmed Recaro sport seats with red piping come standard. There’s also red stitching and Alcantara trim for the dashboard, and red stitching throughout to match the seat piping.

The Sport Recaro Edition is based on the U.K.-market MX-5 Sport Nav, meaning that it comes with the same 2.0-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder offered in the U.S. Miata. Some extra chassis upgrades, similar to those offered on the U.S.-market Miata Club, are included with the Sport Recaro model, including a sport suspension with Bilstein dampers, a limited-slip differential, and a strut tower bar. Only 600 units of the Mazda MX-5 Miata Sport Recaro Edition will be sold in the U.K., and the car carries a £1,000 premium over the standard MX-5 Sport Nav model. We don’t know yet if this special model has a chance of reaching our shores, so stay tuned for more news to come.
