Renault teases Frankfurt-bound Talisman sedan [Video]
Renault has published a teaser video that previews the upcoming Talisman. Set to replace the eight-year old third-generation Laguna, the Talisman will be presented to the public for the first time this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Talisman will fight head-to-head against the Mazda Mazda6, the Ford Mondeo (known as the Fusion in the United States) and the eighth-gen Volkswagen Passat. Earlier spy shots tell us that its front end will borrow design cues from recent additions to the Renault family like the Espace and the Kadjar, while its rear end will lose the Laguna’s tall trunk lid and benefit from a much more rakish D-pillar.
Reflecting Renault’s upmarket ambitions, upscale trim levels will be fitted with a large tablet-like touch screen that will run Renault’s R-Link 2 infotainment system, leather upholstery and wood trim on the dashboard.
The Renault Talisman will be fully unveiled online on July 6th, and it will go on sale across Europe before the end of the year. It goes without saying that the sedan will not be sold in the United States, but – surprisingly – Renault has confirmed it won’t be available in the United Kingdom and in Ireland.
The Talisman will bow as a sedan, and a family-friendly station wagon version of it will be introduced next March at the Geneva Motor Show. However, the current Laguna coupe will not be replaced because sales are slow at best.
